For 100 years, AK Steel has been a vital member of the Middletown, OH, industrial fabric. City officials recently recognized the company's long-standing contributions to the community with its dedication of the AK Steel Pavilion at Bicentennial Commons. Topping the stainless steel structure is standing seam roofing.According to Mike Taylor, project architect from Pinnacle Architects Inc. of Dayton, OH, the pavilion needed to make a bold statement and create an exciting visual image. Dimensional, it had to fit an existing 2,400 sq. ft. base in the park, which is located along the banks of the Great Miami River. And naturally, steel had to figure prominently in the design.
