Harley-Davidson motorcycle dealerships seem to be everywhere these days. And while the company has experienced a tremendous resurgence since teetering on the brink of bankruptcy in the early 1980s, there are still less than 850 dealerships in the entire country. Visibility plays a role in the "everywhere perception." Many of the newest dealerships are located along major thoroughfares. Individual building appearance is certainly a factor as well. Unlike the types of retail businesses that we get used to seeing and tend to ignore when we aren't specifically looking for them, Harley-Davidson dealerships are standouts because each is different, and the newer ones especially are attractive and inviting...even to non-riders. The new Cajun Harley-Davidson/Buell in Scott, LA, is a good example. It is warm and inviting, catering to today's Harley rider-the 40-something male with a college education and an annual salary in excess of 75,000 dollars.
