Multiport single-mode fibre splitters

Currently, there is significant interest in multiport, single-mode fibre splitters as an alternative to concatenations of 2 × 2 port 3 dB splitters. This paper reviews recent developments in the area and suggests new configurations with potential commercial applications. Both the power-splitting properties and spectral response of each device are quantified
