摘要

Steel production in Russia is expected to grow during the next few years with total production increasing from 74.4 Mt in 2013 to 79.3 Mt in 2015 [1]. Almost all of this growth will be made in the electric arc furnace (EAF) sector of the Russian Steel Industry. This follows worldwide trends that encourage the growth in steel production capacity by way of the EAF. Furthermore, steel production capacity in CIS countries is expected to increase 69 Mt by 2030, of which 44Mt would be produced by electric arc furnaces [2], EAF plants are generally less capital intensive to build and require fewer man-hours per tonne of steel produced. In Russia; there are 14 separate EAF construction projects at different stages of completion [1].
