Sorption on complex-forming ion-exchange resins is used in order to separate cobalt, manganese, nickel, and copper in industrial solutions of the cobalt workshop of the Ufaleinikel Plant. With the use of epoxyamine ion-exchange resin of type SB-1, the possibility is provided of separating cobalt and manganese, and also purification of cobalt solution from copper by sorption on the same ion-forming resin. With the use of vinylpyridine anionite of type SN-3, the possibility is evaluated of cleaning nickel from cobalt solution. Tests show the efficiency of sorption technology compared with the existing hydrolysis technology. Introduction of this technology makes it possible to reduce to a considerable extent loss of cobalt with semifinished products and to reduce operating expenditure.
