In February 2004, the company Teploenergetik-A and the Moscow State Institute of Steel and Alloys convened the international conference "Technology and Equipment for Making Refractories. The Use of New Types of Refractory Products in the Metallurgical Industry." The conference, held with the support of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Science, involved the participation of representatives of 80 companies (metallurgical and refractory companies), research centers, and other organizations in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Germany, France, and Israel. Among the organizations represented were the Borovichi Refractories Combine (BKO), the companies Magnezit and Refractories Technology, the Sukho-lozhsk Refractories plant, the companies Ogneuporkomplekt and Bakor, the Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Combine (MMK), Nizhniy Tagil Metallurgical Combine (NTMK), Belarus Metallurgical Plant (BMK), DneprospetsstaF, the Regional TPK (previously called Pipe Impex), the company Shiber, Lafarge Refractories Ukraina, VHI and 1KB, VGH GmbH (Germany), and RHI (Austria).
