Results are presented from factory tests of a new type of noise suppressor - an "acoustic mirror" that is designed to reduce the level of noise radiated by the end-of-pipe equipment on gas ducts, smokestacks, and similar facilities. The proposed suppressor is highly efficient over a wide range of the low-frequency region of the spectrum. It effectively suppresses the noise's tonal components at specified frequencies, has a low hydraulic resistance, and is small in size. It is designed specially for use at metallurgical plants.
