Contagious bovine pleuropneumania [Review] [Polish]

The article reviews the etiopathology, epidemiology, clinical manifestations, lesions, diagnosis, and also control and eradication of contagious bovine pleuropneumonia (CBPP), one of the major threats to cattle health and production in Africa and Asia. Considered to have been eradicated several years ago, this disease has now become endemic in the southern countries of Europe. Therefore the epidemic status of contagious bovine pleuropneumonia and its importance for cattle breeding has recently been under consideration, particularly regarding international animal trade and veterinary regulations in the European Union. It is placed in list A of OIE. CBPP is a respiratory disease characterized by croupous pneumonia and serofibrinous pleurisy. The usual clinical form of the disease is acute but chronic forms are also common, especially in endemic regions. Hyperacute forms of CBPP with a high mortality rate can be observed at the beginning of outbreaks in newly infected herds.
