There have been relatively few occurrences on the supply side to counter the negative pressure on prices from weak demand. Below we detail a few of the more important developments of the past month:News that Southern Peru Copper Corporation lost some mine output due to an earthquake in late June offered some limited support to prices. Although operations at the mines were suspended, the closure was extremely brief and there was little impact on output. Refined output was unaffected.Imperial Metals Corp plans to suspend operations at its copper-gold Mount Polley mine in British Columbia, from September 30 due to low metal prices.
