Chancellor announces landfill tax increase, Lol testing and extra EA funds for waste crime

Chancellor George Osborne has confirmed that landfill tax for 2016 will rise only in line with RPI, and has given the Environment Agency (EA) an extra 4.2m to tackle waste crime. In his last Budget before the general election, he said: "The standard and lower rates of land fill tax will increase in line with RPI, rounded to the nearest 5p, from April 2016. Additionally, the loss on ignition (LoI) testing regime announced at the Autumn Statement will be introduced from 1 April 2015."
