Chinese net steam coal exports fall by 10mt

Chinese net steam coal exports (including anthracite) in HI are down by more than10mt on last year at 26mt, according to export and import figures from Chinese customs. In addition, net coking coal imports are getting bigger with HI figures showing net imports at 1.4mt, against 0.4mt last year. Chinese customs data pegs June exports at 6.5mt, against an astonishing 3.2mt in May (the lowest figure from the agency so far this year), underlying the volatility of the reporting that makes this data unreliable on a month-by-month basis. However, this volatility tends to be flattened out over time and HI exports are 36.72mt, compared to 43.59mt last year.
