Germany's major coal state North Rhine Westfalia this morning made its agreement to the planned restructuring and float of the RAG group dependent on a decision to completely close down coal mining by RAG's coal division Deutsche Steinkohle (DSK). The CDU-led NRW government has not fixed a date for a mining shutdown. In contrast, the federal government is awaiting the results of expert reports, due at the end of the year, on the value of RAG and the likely outcome of the public listing planned for 2007.
