Chubu settles at 55.50 dollars

JFY2007 pricing agreements have been reached between Chubu and either or both of its two key contract suppliers, Rio Tinto and Xstrata. The reports, confirmed for one of the suppliers by MCR suggested the headline price is 55.50 dollars/t, basis 6,322kc NAR, up from 52.40 dollars/t for this FY deliveries. Final agreements await various corporate approvals. Other Australian shippers were this week beginning to receive requests from other JPUs to discuss contract pricing, another sure sign that a 'benchmark' agreement has been reached.
