US east coast May exports fall 17.5%

US east COAST exports reached 5.5mt in May, 17.5% down from April's 6.7mt and 13.8% lower than March's 6.38mt, according to the latest data from T. Parker Host.May's met coal exports out of Hampton Roads (HRCT) and Baltimore's terminals reached a total of 3.61mt, 11.1% less than 4.1mt exported in April and 4.8% lower than 3.79mt exported in May 2011.Meanwhile, May's steam coal exports out of HRCT and Baltimore were 1.89mt, a 24.1% reduction from the previous month, 18.6% less than 2.49mt shipped in March and a 104% increase from just 0.93mt exported in May 2011.
