Condition assessment of high voltage box steel transmission poles

Thirty year old sealed box steel poles in concrete socket footings that are supporting two high voltage transmission lines were investigated to assess the current condition of the structures and the protection systems. The protection system on the pole body was a thermally sprayed zinc (TSZ) coating (with additional tar epoxy paint on the buried section) and hot dip galvanising (HDG) coating on the crossarms.
