Hong Kong Branch digs for gold

In late October 2009, a group from the Hong Kong Branch travelled to Malaysia to visit the Penjom Gold Mine. The opencast mine is in the State of Pahang in the centre of Peninsular Malaysia and it is the country's largest gold producer. The mine, where production commenced in late 1996, was developed by Avocet Gold Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Avocet Mining plc, with support from the Pahang State Development Corporation.
