The first technical meeting of the year for the Branch was by Tom Chatterley of the Motor Industry Research Association (MIRA) who gave an illustrated talk on the 'End of life vehicle directive-implications for everyone'. He opened with the statement 'a new EU directive that became effective in April 2002 compels governments in member states to enforce the responsible disposal of vehicles that have come to the end of their life.' In effect the dumping of scrap vehicles is no longer an option.
