Honsel GmbH & Co KG's experience in casting aluminium engine blocks goes back to 1956, when it started sand casting a six cylinder V engine block for Ford. Exactly 32 years later, in 1988, the first diecast aluminium engine blocks were developed for in line engine blocks for Volvo. The company has been diecasting substantial numbers of engine blocks for DaimlerChrysler for more than 10 years. On May 9, 2003, Honsel opened a new diecasting facility for engine blocks in Germany. This modern plant, which incorporates the company's decades of experiences, is considered to be the most modern in Europe.
