Control limits for the drying of water-based coatings

The use of water-based coatings for the mass production of small to medium sized components, such as for the automotive industry, has been state of the art for many years. Within this process the meticulous drying of the applied coating layer through continuous or batch ovens is standard practice. However in the jobbing casting production environment with its changing product mix and often much larger castings, the adoption of water-based coatings has proved harder to implement.
