摘要

Hands up those who are suspicious of a newspaper which opposes the recommendations of the Leveson report on the grounds that this is a terrible infringement of press freedom but then condemns The Guardian for publishing the findings of Edward Snowden? This is only the most recent and blatant demonstration that our newspaper industry is self-serving and deeply partial. No matter that Alistair Campbell says that Rupert Murdoch and Paul Dacre are today's dinosaurs, equivalent to the trade union leadersof the 1980s, they have plenty of powder left and they will not fail to discharge it as occasion demands.
