Advances in Genome Biology and Technology: 8th Annual Meeting.

In February of this year, while much of the northern hemisphere was gripped by extreme cold, the 8th Annual Advances in Genome Biology and Technology (AGBT) meeting was held at the Marco Island Marriott Resort in Marco Island FL, USA. The meeting this year focused on next-generation sequencing technologies and their growing impact on addressing a wide range of topics in biology. The meeting had over 400 attendees, which was up slighdy from the previous year, and there was a tangible excitement over the increasing number of next-generation sequencing platforms that are at, or nearing, commercial availability.
