Urban regeneration and public libraries:A Danish perspective on global developments

Cities operate in a competitive environment today, not least in the field of cultural activities. They are both planned and marketed as creative cities. This brings a need to create new hybrid spaces to generate new ideas. The economic strategies which used such centres as opera houses, concert halls, museums and galleries to reinforce branding and image, to attract tourists, have now expanded to include libraries.
