Today's maintenance departments are continually being asked to do more. Unfortunately, in most cases, they are being asked to do more with less. That is why it is critical for those in the maintenance and reliability fields to have the proper tools to aid in making better decisions about the health of the facility's assets. After all, maintenance is all about getting the most life out of an asset as efficiently as possible. It is also imperative that we begin to move away from reactive maintenance to performing more predictive or condition-based maintenance tasks. Airborne and structure-borne ultrasound is a great place to start, and here Adrian Messer of UE Systems provides an overview of ultrasound technology and how it continues to enhance predictive maintenance, equipment reliability, and energy conservation applications.
