Solubility Cell

A possible method of construction is given for a solubility cell used to investigate equilibria involving carbon dioxide, carbonates and water at temperatures of5°C to 95°C. 1. Prepare in advance by shaping a 1:10 taper 24/12 socket (Figure 1) and 5/13 socket. Pre-grind the socket using 220 grit carborundum powder to a 22/12 size. The grinding will help secure the tapered glass onto the carbon rod tapered to 1:10 profile when fusing it to the reaction compartment.
