Moving from a machine tool-only order to one involving complete project management, Heller Machine Tools delivered a turnkey system and confirmed PPAP capability (confirmation of capacity/quality) for an installation at automotive castings founder and machinist JL French, of Witham. The installation is in support of Ford's Lion diesel engine project and will ultimately involve five UK-built MC 16 machining centres. The Lion project covers the development and production of a 2.7 litre V6 diesel engine in three derivatives offering up to 440 Nm torque for Ford's Premier Automotive Group cars - Jaguar and Land Rover- and the PSA Group of Peugeot and Citroen.
