Manufacturing Skills Academy to upskill the nation's workforce

The official launch of the Manufacturing Skills Academy is set for 25 January. Upskilling the UK's manufacturing workforce is its target and the Academy's ambition is that after its first four to five years, it will have put ?100 million on UK manufacturing industry's bottom line, says SEMTA's technical director, Bill Twigg. The Academy is a wholly owned subsidiary of SEMTA but will have its own chairman and board of directors, all yet to be named, and is expected to be self-financing at year six.
