Faith Archer was delighted when an article she had written about how to save money on heating oil was picked up by The Sunday Times recently. Having moved from London to Hadleigh in Suffolk in 2014, the Archer family swapped a connection to a gas main for a large oil tank lurking in the garden with central heating, hot water and an elderly Aga all oil-fired. Getting quotes for a shiny new gas boiler, a heating engineer pointed out that the inherited oil boiler was a good model and only about 5-years old, and suggested keeping it until it keeled over.
