UTC Power, AC Transit, Van Hool for next-gen California transit buses

AC Transit of Oakland, California is to purchase a minimum of eight 120 kW PureMotion Model 120 fuel cell systems from Connecticut-based UTC Power, with options for an additional 13 units. The PEM fuel cell systems will power AC Transit's next-generation hybrid-electric, fuel cell buses, which are scheduled for delivery in 2009 and 2010; the vehicles will be built by Belgian bus manufacturer Van Hool. The procurement is the largest order yet from a US transit agency for fuel cell buses.
