The performance of 30 tetraploid hybrids of banana resistant to Black Sigatoka disease (caused by Mycosphaerella fijiensis) was evaluated in Cameroon from 1996 to 2000. The hybrids were compared with their female parents over 2 cycles of production. Seven hybrids were selected based on their high yield potential, precocity in flowering, and improved sucker production. However, these hybrids had several defects, preventing their wide-scale cultivation..
