The Spanish vegetable producer Frunet Bio regrets the numerous cases of illness and death following an outbreak of E. coli bacteria. The entire production process is regularly quality-checked by independent institutes. Spanish vegetable growers demanda quick, thorough and comprehensive investigation of the infection that occurred in Germany. All tests of vegetables in Germany and Spain published so far have shown that the Spanish vegetable farmers are not to be blamed for the outbreak of this infection. The results of the microbiological tests performed at the organic producer Frunet Bio in Spain were all negative.The E. coli bacteria found on the first cucumber from Frunet is definitively not the source of the outbreak. All other samples taken bybuyers meanwhile have not confirmed a contamination with E.coli.
