How is the situation for the produce trade in the Middle East? There are much more players on the consumption side. The production remains the same, the proper expression is that it has decreased instead of increasing and the consumption is growing. Take for example India. Only a few years ago this country has not imported a lot of fruits. Now they are becoming an open market. Prices even for Chinese items have In-creased (to US$2,200 for one ton of ginger) as well as for Australian fruit. Last week I learned that even Pakistan has elevated taxes for imported fruit. Now they want to provide imported fruit for their local market.
