Pear industry meeting in Argentina

This year the capital of the province Neuquén hosted the XI International Pear Symposium. The scientific-technical conference was held for the first time in Argentina, and following Talca in Chile for the second time in South America. From November 23 to 26 scientists and traders from 25 countries met to discuss phytosanitary issues and commercialization of pears. The conference took place in Argentina's most important growing area for pears and apples, in the upper valley of the Rio Negro and Neuquén River. Argentina is the largest pear exporter with a 40% share in global production.
