PORTLAND NATURAL GAS BLASTS SHIPPER GROUP FOR ATTEMPTING TO SINK ITS SERVICE SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT WITH ENERGYNORTH AND SEEKING UNJUSTIFIABLY TO ENRICH ITS MEMBERS

Portland Natural Gas Transmission System (RP11- 2449) blasted a perceived interference from the PNGTS Shippers‘ Group1 who are protesting PNGTS‘s efforts to implement a settlement stemming from a nonconforming term in its service agreement with EnergyNorth Natural Gas, Inc. FERC in June 2011 indicated that PNGTS‘s original effort to construct a tariff proposal was not acceptable and the two counterparties would have to come up with an alternative resolution. Then on 8/28/11 PNGTS submitted a revised long-term firm transportation (FT) natural gas transportation service agreement negotiated with EnergyNorth. PNGTS purportedly submitted the revised EnergyNorth Agreement to comply with the Commission directives in October 2010 and June 2011requiring the pipeline company either to remove a contract demand reduction provision from the EnergyNorth Agreement or to offer the provision on a non- discriminatory basis to all shippers.
