Numerous local and regional program mes for raising awareness of paratuberculosis in cattle have been delivered over recent years, many funded by European and UK state initiatives. The lessons learnt from these initiatives have galvanised the creationof a national plan for paratuberculosis management by the National Johne's Action Group (JAG). This group was first formed in 2010 to raise the awareness of paratuberculosis and engage farmers in management and control. The National Johne's Management Plan (NJMP) 1 has been launched in two phases under the direction of the JAG, and funded by DairyUK, a trade body representing milk processors, and the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDBdairy), an industry-funded research and development organisation.
