American Clean Skies Foundation Urges Energy Department to Give More Weight to Natural Gas as Future Best Contributor to Less Power Congestion in U.S.

In public comments conveyed to the Department of Energy (DOE) at the end of January, the American Clean Skies Foundation (ACSF)1 is urging the Department to take into account a growing role for natural gas-fired electric generation when the agency writes its 2012 Electric Transmission Congestion Study. The last such study was issued three years ago in 2009. Every three years, the Energy Department is required to update its review of potential choke points in the interstate transmission network used to deliver electric power. ACSF said its comments were filed in anticipation of the next study that is due to be completed later this year.
