DOMINION COVE POINT AND SHIPPERS REACH INTERIM SHORT-TERM DEAL TO ENSURE AN LNG SHIPMENT OCCURS NEXT MONTH TO BACKSTOP OPERATIONAL NEEDS AT THE TERMINAL

Last Friday, 7/22/11, Dominion Cove Point LNG, LP (RP11-2136) submitted to FERC an interim partial settlement and requested expedited approval for a plan to resolve on a temporary basis operational issues it faces at its Cove Point LNG Terminal. The Commission was asked to act by Wednesday, July 27, by the parties, citing "commercial realities." By letter order, on July 27 FERC granted Cove Point's motion and submission. According to the Commission, the Interim Partial Settlement appears to be fair and reasonable and in the public interest. In addition, the Commission granted the limited, one-time waivers of Cove Point's tariff and of the regulations requested by Cove Point as necessary to effectuate the agreement.
