As you are undoubtedly aware, your Board has conducted an extensive review of our organization's direction. This was a three-step process: first, environmental scanning, second, meeting with the DC Management Team, and third and most importantly, member consultation, through focus groups, the Calgary Members' Forum, and online surveying, Your feedback was fundamental in crafting these new priorities, and now as your Chair, I am pleased to share them with you. The new DC priorities, which will assist the Board and Management Team in measuring the organization's progress, are: 1. DC is the most credible and reliable source for nutrition information for Canadians. This means that dietitians are recognized as health professional partners for Canadians, This priority addresses access to timely food and nutrition information, viewpoints, and guidance from DC and the profession, and on maintaining strong relationships with members, media, government, community health and other important stakeholders, 2. DC provides standards and tools to sustain the dietetic profession. This means that DC is a community of members that promotes and supports continuous learning and evidence-based practice innovation. This priority speaks to DC's role in developing and supporting a strong, science-based, dietetic profession in Canada, and preparing DC Members for emerging practice areas, senior roles and diverse careers, .3. DC speaks for dietitians on the design of health systems for Canadians. This means that government, other health professionals, and Canadians recognize the role of, and can access the services of, dietitians across the continuum of Canada's health systems. This priority recognizes the importance of advocacy for the standards and best practices of dietitians working in food and nutrition services.
