Colorado Interstate Requests FERC Authorization to Build Raton Basin Lateral Operated as Two-Zone System with Eye to Future Demand Growth and Expansion as U.S. Economy Improves

On 9/1/09 Colorado Interstate Gas Co. (CIG) (CP09-464) formally submitted a request for a FERC certificate authorizing a project composed of 16-inch diameter North Raton Lateral natural gas pipeline facilities totaling approximately 118.6 miles and located in Las Animas, Huerfano, Pueblo, and El Paso counties, Colorado, as well as certain metering facilities. CIG also would install certain non-jurisdictional facilities, too. This expansion is being undertaken to serve customers requesting additional gas transportation capacity from Raton Basin producing areas in south-central Colorado to CIG's existing Front Range interstate system for further transportation on CIG's pipeline. No new compression facilities are proposed as part of this project. The total capacity will be approximately 130,000 dth/d and will cost approximately $132.1 million. CIG requested a certificate by no later than 4/1/10 in order to place the facilities into service by 12/1/10.
