Coal Is Big Winner in EIA's Revised Power Forecast, But Climate Bill Could Change That; Report on Lieberman-Warner Bill Is Due Next Month

The Energy Information Administration (EIA) will release in the first week of April an analysis of Senate legislation to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, EIA Administrator Guy Caruso told the Natural Gas Roundtable on 3/18/08. S. 2191, America's Climate Security Act of 2007, sponsored by Sens. Joe Lieberman (l-Conn.) and John Warner (R-Va.), was reported on 12/5/07 by the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. The bill is scheduled for Senate debate in June. The Lieberman-Warner bill would establish a cap-and-trade system to limit GHG emissions from the electric power, natural gas, and transportation fuel sectors.
