Beverage Industry: Novel technology for new products A report on drlnktec 2013

In Hungary, there has been a tax since September 2011 for excessively sweet drinks. In January 2012, France introduced the so-called "coke tax" for all drinks fortified with sugar or sweetener. The USA, too, are currently considering the introduction of such a tax. In the fight against obesity, it is prohibited in the city of New York to sell drinks at a volume of 16 ounces, which converts to half a liter, with a content of sugar that exceeds 50 calories. This also includes sweetened coffees as well as sugared juices. Nevertheless, it is not applicable for alcoholic beverages. These and other developments are leading to the fact that the beverage manufacturers are starting to rethink when it comes to the composition and manufacture of their products. This triggers changes in the process technology. What kind of changes these are will be a subject at drinktec 2013, which will take place between 16th and 20th of September, 2013 in Munich.
