Reliability Outlook for North American Bulk Power System Is 'Generally Good' this Winter

The North American Electric Reliability Corp. (NERC) foresees no operational conditions that would significantly affect the reliability of the bulk power system this winter. Reduced economic activity has led to a drop in projected demand along with higher reserve margins throughout North America. Reserve margins should exceed reference planning levels in all regions, although just barely in winter-peaking subregions like Quebec and Western Canada.
