Algonquin Gas Transmission Submits Algonquin Incremental Market Project Application to FERC

If approved, natural gas capacity-poor New England would add 342,000 Dth/d of additional firm transportation capacity from Algonquin Gas Transmission, LLC’s (CP14-96) proposed $876 million Algonquin Incremental Market (AIM) project. The pipeline company submitted an application to FERC for certificates on Feb. 28. Algonquin is seeking authorization to build approximately 37.6 miles of take-up and relay, loop and lateral pipeline facilities and related facilities in New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts, which would help transport growing Marcellus shale supplies into the region. The AIM project would allow Algonquin to provide the additional capacity from an existing receipt point in Ramapo, New York, to various Algonquin city gate delivery points in New England. Ten shippers8 including eight New England local distribution companies (LDCs) and two municipal utilities signed on to the project, taking all of the capacity.
