A commitment to sea lice control

As sea lice have clear economic impacts and continue to present a major concern in aspects of welfare, Europharma Scotland remainscommitted to continue working in partnership with the industry in tackling the issue of these parasites. As part of a long-term vision, the Europharma Scotland team aims to achievethis commitment from 4 angles:Access to a complete range of fully licensed sea lice pharmaceuticals, supported by continuous research efforts on new solutionsProvision of a comprehensive range of diagnostic & fish health servicesImprovements to fish welfare to maximise fish healthWorkshops & seminars to provide an opportunity for key decision makers to share findings and collaborate at the industry levelWhile recent innovations in biological and mechanical control seem altogether promising, the team at Europharma Scotland still recognises that pharmaceutical control remains an important tool in the fight against sea lice. Currently there are five licensed medicines used for the control of sea lice which, depending on the medicine, can be applied topically or orally via feed. In 2014, the company made available to the market an azamethiphos product (recently renamed as AZASURE).
