TRIBUTE TO WELLS SHOEMAKER

I just learned with sadness that Wells passed away on July 25th. I first met Wells about 1972, after I had just entered the filter business. I was eager to learn what sort of test methods the business employed. My coworkers pointed me to the newly formed American Filtration Society, the child of Weils Shoemaker. Thus, I met Wells. I asked him about test methods. He said some existed but needed clarification.
