Confor views sought on energy planning

On 01 March 2012, Confor's Wales manager Kath McNulty gave evidence on biomass to the Welsh Assembly environment and sustainability committee, at the Senedd, in Cardiff. The invitation to present evidence came on the tail of the environment and sustainability committee inquiry into energy policy and planning in Wales, last September. The inquiry fo-cussed on the role of the different consenting agencies, how they inter-relate and how the current system could be improved, both with and without furtherdevolution. The agencies concerned include the Infrastructure Planning Commission (IPC), Planning Inspectorate, Local Planning Authorities, National Parks, Welsh Government, Marine Management Organisation and Environment Agency. The inquiry resulted ina protest response from organisations and individuals concerned by the large scale wind-farm developments in mid-Wales and the proposed new pylons.
