Activating forest owners (AFO) project has been a three-year, EU-funded programme, whose main objective is to increase woodfuel supply coming from privately owned European forests. The AFO has brought together a number of forestry-based partnerships from the UK, France, Latvia and Slovenia to emulate successful models of cooperative woodfuel supply chains typically found in Finland and Austria. In the UK, South Yorkshire Forest Partnership (SYFP) and FC have taken the lead with the project.
