Cermaq blames low prices and volumes for profit drop

NORWEGIAN aquaculture company Cermaq has reported a 41% drop in net profits in the second quarter compared to the same period last year. The company says lower salmon prices and production problems are to blame. Cermaq has reported a second quarter EBIT pre fair value of NOK 196.0 million compared to EBIT of NOK 329.2 million for the second quarter 2006.
