Throughout the history of using electromagnetic (EM)data for hydrocarbon exploration in marine environ-ments, discussion has focused on cases where drillingresults apparently are not in accordance with observa-tions from acquired EM data. Often these discussions lead to theconclusion that in some areas the EM method 'does not work'.After eight years of controlled source electromagnetic (CSEM)acquisition for exploration purposes, information from close to90 wells can be compared to the results of the CSEM method atthe location of the drilled wells.
