The continuing skyward trend of oil prices should, by now, be making woodfuel economically, as well as environmentally, sustainable. The initial setup costs of some of our woodfuel projects, however, continue to worry more than a few experts in the field. In the northern cantons of the Helvetian Confederation -a part of Europe already well known for its great traditions in firewood production - the technology of centrally located wood-energy generators has over the last decade been making steady inroads -and the costs involved are clear for all to see.
