The spray advisor: A geographic information systems approach for aerial spraying

The Spray Advisor is a decision support system designed for researchers and natural resource managers in order to assess aerial spraying operations. The system combines a number of functions related to modeling and assessment of spray deposition and drift within a Geographic Information Systems framework. Spray Advisor is currently being used in assessment of spray drift for both pesticide and herbicide applications, including those targeted for gypsy moth, spruce budworm, and invasive weeds. Spray Advisor may be used as an aid in project planning and coordination, for spray drift mitigation efforts, in cooperator training, and for post-spray analysis and visualization. Project cooperators include the U.S. Forest Service as well as various entitiesin Canada and New Zealand.
